About SNGM
Early History
The Sree Narayana Guru Mission is a nonprofit charitable organization doing a lot of educationaland charitable activities in the Houston Area . It was formally registered in 2012, but the seeds of the Organization sawn on Guru Jayanthi in September, 2007. Five Guru Devotees in Houston – Clearlake were assembled at Mr. Aniyan Thayil’s residence (1110 EL- CAMINO VILLAGE DRIVE APT# 1323 Houston 77058 . The participants include Mr. Prakasan Divakaran & Family, Mr. Manoj Gopi and Family, Mr. Pushkaran Sukumaran and Family, Mr. Jayachandran Achuthan and family and host Mr. Aniyan Thayil and family. The Devotes lighted lamp before the photo of Guru marking the onset of group activities in the name of Great Guru Sree Narayana in Houston Texas. After that the Team observed the Maha Samadhi in 2007. After that we started the celebrations of Jayanthi and Observance of Maha Samadhi in Houston. In 2009 Swami Satichidananda of Sivagiri Mutt visited Houston and Sat- Sangam s was conducted at the residence of Mr. Sadasivan parayil and also Maha samadhi Observance at Mr. Prakasan Dinakaran’s residence in League City After that more families joined in the group and monthly prayers started at various residence. The Visits of Swami Bodhi Tirtha in 2011. 2012 and 2013 also give great support and guidance for organization. A lot of Sat- Sanghams were held at various residence. Members were started to think about a registered organization in Houston. An Organizing Committee was formed including Mr. Prakasan Divakaran, Muralee Kesavan, Madhu Cherickal, Babu Das , with Mr. Aniyan Thayil as chairman. . Two Sat-Sanghams were convened for the purpose. the first one was at Mr. Muralee Kesavan’s residence on 08/18/2012 and the second one at Mr. Aniyan Thayil’s residence on 08/19/2012 The meeting was attended by Swami Bodhi Tirtha.
Formation of SNGM
The second meeting on 08/19/2012 decided to form a non-for-profit- charity organization with the name of Sree Narayana Guru Mission USA. Houston., The following office bearers were selected as ad hoc BOD. Aniyan Thayil (President) Mr Athul Krishnan ( Vice President) , Mr Madhu Cherickal ( Secretary) Mr Muralee Kesavan ( Treasurer) Mr Manoj Gopi ( Joint Secretary) Mr Prakasan Divakaran ( Joint Secretary). Mr Babudas, Mrs Beena Pushkaran, Mr Jayachandran, Mr Shaji V N , Mr Unni Manappurathu were the BOD members. The meeting also decided to Inaugurate the organization on, the Guru Jayanthi in 2012, on 2012 , September 2 Sunday It was the first Public Meeting of Guru devotees in Texas and was attended by hundreds of people from all sections of society. It was in the Kerala House Stafford. The Organization was registered in Texas with 2126 Venezia Drive Pearland TX as the registered Office.
